POMONA, Calif. – The Cal Poly Pomona men's track and field team competed in a pair of events this weekend. Both the Bryan Clay Invitational hosted by Azusa Pacific and the Mt. SAC Relays hosted the Broncos' squad.
At the Bryan Clay Invitational, hosted by Azusa Pacific University at Cougar Stadium in Azusa, the CPP men competed in 10 events.
In the 3000 meter steeplechase, the Broncos' lone competitor was
William Ebiner, The junior finished at No. 17 in a field of 40 competitors with a time of 9:23.04. In the 5000 meter race, the CPP squad had four competitors. Leading the way for the Green and Gold was
Teague Senninger, he finished at No. 9 with a time of 14:48.40. Also competing were
Justin Doyle,
Devon Reed, and
Leo Corcoran III.
Rodger Mantor cleared a height of 4.91 meters in the pole vault. The senior cleared the height on his second jump attempt and thus earned second place in a field of 28 vaulters.
Also as the lone Bronco in the event,
Hector Alarcon finished fourth among D-II competition in the discus as he threw for 46.16 meters.
Three Broncos ran in the 110 meter hurdles in the Bryan Clay Invite. Leading the squad, placing fifth overall and second among Division II competition was
Jordon Morris, the senior earned his posted a season second-best 14.80 time.
Coming in just a split second behind Morris in the event was
Marcus Romo, and rounding out the CPP trio was
Kyle Lawson.
There were five Broncos that ran in the 800 meter event, setting the path for the Green and Gold was
Cesar Galvez, the senior competed the event with a time of 1:53.99. Also running for CPP were
Chris Hyden,
Darian Ignatius,
Michale Hamlin, and
Jesus Pantaleon.
Nicholas Mannino ran in the 400 meter hurdles for CPP, checking in with a final time of 57.03.
Anibal Jimenez was one of four Broncos in the 200 meter dash. The junior led the Green and Gold with a time of 21.99.
Napoleon Singletary IV clocked in at second for CPP with a time of 22.08.
Austin Braunschweiger and
Gabriel Wirtz rounded out the Broncos' runners.
As a squad the Bronco men finished ninth in the 4x400 meter relay, running for CPP in the event were Hamlin,
Chris Uzoma, Singletary, and
Ruben Dominguez.
In his heat of the 1500 meter run, Dominguez finished at No. 8 with a time of 3:50.35. Finishing at No. 9 in his heat,
Tyler Potts finished with a time of 3:56.28.
The Broncos also competed at the Mt. SAC Relays.
Francisco Gomez led the way for CPP as he finished the 10,000 meter race with a time of 29:48.85. His mark not only reached the provisional mark set by the NCAA, but also earns him the second best mark in Cal Poly Pomona's history. He passed a mark set by All-American Mark Batres in 2004.
CPP also finished with a time of 41.47 in the men's 4x100 meter relay.
Mark Huizar ran in the 5000 meter event and completed the event with a time of 14:12.97. Huizar's mark earns him a spot on the all-time CPP record books.
