SAN RAMON, Calif. - Cal Poly Pomona Intercollegiate Athletics was well represented in the 2015-16 California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) All-Academic awards announcement. The list was released by the conference office and features nine of the Broncos' 10 teams.
Overall through the 2015-16 academic year, the CPP student-athletes combined for a 3.08 grade point average to set a new program record. With 27 percent of the Broncos receiving a spot on the Dean's List, that mark also represents a program record.
For the CCAA All-Academic list announced this week, there are three criteria for a student-athlete to earn the honor. They must have earned a varsity letter in their respective sport (no red-shirts). They must be a student-athlete in one of the CCAA's 12 sponsored sports. They must earn a minimum of a 3.40 grade point average for the 2015-16 academic year.
CPP had 64 student-athletes represented on the list, the highest total for the Broncos in the award's decade-long history. The CCAA's 13 member institutions tallied a record-total of 722 student-athletes on the list, a 108 increase from the 2014-15 year. CPP increased their record-high from 52 in 2014-15.
Among the CCAA schools, the Broncos ranked third as they trailed just UC San Diego and Sonoma State.
