Broncos Post 1-0 Shutout at Humboldt State

ARCATA, Calif. - The nationally-ranked Cal Poly Pomona men's soccer team secured a 1-0 road win on Sunday, defeating Humboldt State to complete the team's Northern California trip.

Junior midfielder Sergi Monso tallied the game's only goal at the 19:17 mark. The California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) leader in goals, Monso has now scored in four-consecutive games with six goals during that span.

The Broncos outshot the Jacks 13-5 and earned seven corner kick opportunities as opposed to HSU's three.

With the victory, CPP improves to 5-2-1 overall and 1-1-0 in league action. The Jacks drop to 2-3-1 overall and 0-2-0 through conference play.

During Sunday's matchup, Monso totaled five shots and put four on target. Also generating offensive pressure were Kevin Martinez and William Johnson Des Borders, who collected two shots apiece.

The Broncos' defense limited the HSU attack as the host squad only registered two shots, both of which were saved by CPP goalkeeper Jason Trejos. It marked the fifth shutout for Trejos and the Broncos this season.
