SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. – The Cal Poly Pomona women's soccer team suffered a 2-0 loss Wednesday at Cal State San Bernardino.
The result snaps the Broncos' three-game undefeated streak. Now 3-3-2 overall and 2-2-1 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA), CPP falls back into a third-place tie with the Coyotes.
The Broncos outshot San Bernardino 10-5 and earned four corner kicks while the host team attempted two. Nevertheless, the Coyotes' defense kept CPP scoreless and posted the shutout.
Broncos' junior forward
Daisy Duran attempted three of the team's 10 shots.
CSUSB got on the scoreboard in the 20th minute when Megan Todd took a shot and then Susan Ibarra knocked a rebound chance into the back of the net to put the Coyotes up 1-0.
The home team struck again at the 61:18 mark. Rachael Figg and Todd managed to assist a score from Cassandra Bermudez, who capitalized on a close-range opportunity by sliding a shot past CPP goalkeeper
Ricki Ives.
The Broncos will return to action Sunday with an 11:30 a.m. road match at Chico State.
