Broncos Edge Out Stanislaus State 55-54 in Return to Kellogg Arena

POMONA, Calif. – In a triumphant return to Kellogg Arena, the Cal Poly Pomona men's basketball team edged out Stanislaus State on Thursday night, winning 55-54 in the first home game since the middle of December.
 
Daylan Lawrence led the Broncos (4-10, 2-8 CCAA) with 11 points, connecting on three 3-point attempts while Jordan Ogundiran finished with 10 points, shooting 2-of-2 from behind the arc.
 
In a game with little offense, both teams battled back and forth to start the game. The Broncos overcame a five point deficit, ending the first half with a 26-23 advantage.
 
CPP totaled 11 steals and forced 20 turnovers by the Warriors, compared to only eight turnovers of their own.
 
The Broncos worked up a 10 point lead, their highest of the night, with 4:28 left in the game. Down 54-44, the Warriors fought back with an 8-0 run, capped off by a three pointer by Jaelen Ragsdale, making it a two-point game.
 
Eight Broncos scored on the night with William Christmas and Jeremy Dennis each scoring seven points and four others contributing five points. Christmas also added seven rebounds and three steals to lead his team in both categories.
 
After a free throw by Justin Young, the Broncos led on for their second consecutive home victory.
 
CPP returns to Kellogg Arena on Saturday night as they play host to Chico State. Game time is slated for 7:30 p.m.
