POMONA, Calif. – Despite spurts of offense throughout the night, the Cal Poly Pomona women's basketball team couldn't handle Stanislaus State, losing 84-68 in their first home game in over a month on Thursday night.
Chelsea Waddy-Blow led the Broncos (8-8, 6-3 CCAA) with 22 points while
Casey McWilliam scored a season high 17 points, including four three-pointers on the night.
After three and a half minutes without a score during the second quarter for the Broncos, Stanislaus state built a 28-15 lead.
The Broncos saw their first run of the night near the end of the half as they cut the lead to 39-33 at the break.
Jackie Ricketson contributed across the board for CPP, recording a game high six assists along with five points and four rebounds.
Jordyn Shane and
Dominique Dotson tallied 10 and eight points respectively.
The Warriors shot 58 percent from the field including a 60 percent mark in the second half to hold off any comeback attempt by the Broncos. Cassidy Sanders-Curry tallied a game high 23 points, going 9-of-12 from the free throw line.
The Broncos return to action on Saturday night as they host Chico State in Kellogg Arena. Tip-off it set for 5:30 p.m.
