POMONA, Calif. – Determined to get her team back on track, junior forward
Priscilla Brooks scored nine of her game high 17 points in overtime to lift the Cal Poly Pomona women's basketball team over Chico State, 72-69 on Saturday night in Kellogg Arena.
The Broncos improved to 9-8 overall on the season and 7-4 in California Collegiate Athletic Association play, breaking a tie with the Wildcats (11-6, 6-5 CCAA).
Down 61-59 with less than a minute to go in regulation,
Chelsea Waddy-Blow got the ball in the paint and scored the tying basket, sending the game to overtime.
Brooks, who also finished with a double-double collecting 10 rebounds, started the extra period scoring nine straight for the Broncos, converting two "and-ones" in the process.
Waddy-Blow finished with 11 points and seven rebounds while
Alyssa Benton scored a season high 16 points, going two-of-three from beyond the arc.
The Broncos shot 44 percent from the field and collected 17 offensive rebounds, winning the rebounding margin 37-28.
Also contributing for the Broncos was
Dominique Dotson with nine points, while
Jackie Ricketson tallied seven points, six assists, four rebounds and four steals.
The Broncos head back out on the road next weekend as they travel to Cal State Monterey Bay and Cal State East Bay.
