CARSON, Calif. – In a close battle with Cal State Dominguez Hills, the Cal Poly Pomona men's basketball team was unable to hang on to the lead, falling to the Toros 65-57 on the road on Thursday night in the Torodome.
The Broncos move to 3-8 overall on the year while going 1-6 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association. For Dominguez Hills, they improve to 7-4 overall, 3-2 CCAA.
After falling behind 7-0 at the start, the Broncos overcame the slow start by racking up a 17-0 run in the first half to lead 17-7.
Jordan Ogundiran finished with a team high 13 points to go along with five rebounds while
Riley Schaefer tallied 12 points and a team high seven rebounds.
The Toros broke the scoreless streak with two free throws before fighting to a tie at halftime 28-28. Vincent Golson led CSUDH with a game high 22 points, going 10-of-11 from the free throw line.
CSUDH came out strong in the second half, working a 13-point lead with just under 15 minutes to go in the game. The Toros shot 48 percent from in the field in the second half to secure the victory over the visitors.
Jeremy Dennis added nine points and five rebounds for CPP while
Mason Dickerson finished the night with eight points.
The Broncos look to turn things around on Saturday when they travel to Cal State Los Angeles for a 7:30 tip off.
