AZUSA – The Cal Poly Pomona women's basketball team concluded the CCAA/PacWest Challenge with a 77-67 loss to Point Loma Nazarene University on Saturday afternoon on the campus of Azusa Pacific.
The Broncos move to 0-2 on the season and prepare for their home opener on Tuesday, Nov. 14 as they welcome in Biola University at 6 p.m. at Kellogg Arena.
In what was another close battle, CPP and Point Loma combined for 13 lead changes in the contest.
Priscilla Brooks recorded her first double-double of the season, registering 14 points and 11 rebounds while
Jackie Ricketson added 14 points of her own.
For the second game in a row,
Dominique Dotson opened the game with a three-pointer to give the Broncos an early lead. The Broncos held on to the lead for a majority of the first quarter before the Sea Lions took their first lead with just under three minutes to play in the opening period.
Casey McWilliam contributed 12 points on the light while Dotson finished with eight points.
Point Loma went into halftime with a three points lead, hitting a shot from behind the arc in the final minute of play to lead at the break 35-32.
Alyssa Benton grabbed seven boards to go along with four points while
Chelsea Waddy-Blow ended the night with seven points and five rebounds.
Point Loma held the Broncos to 29 percent shooting from the field before pulling away from CPP in the fourth quarter, outscoring CPP 27-19.
