POMONA – The Cal Poly Pomona men's soccer team found an offensive spark in the semifinals of the California Collegiate Athletic Association Tournament, defeating sixth-seed San Francisco State 3-0 at host UC San Diego on Friday afternoon.
With the win, the Broncos have secured a spot in the CCAA title game on Sunday, Nov. 5 against the winner of the second semifinal match between top-seed Cal State Dominguez Hills and fourth-seed Cal State Los Angeles.
Luis Najera Jr., got things going early for the Broncos, tallying the first score of the game in the 19
th minute of play after taking a through ball form
Cyro Oliveria and knocked the ball low past the goalie.
The Broncos tallied 17 total shots on the day with four landing on target while the defense held the Gators to only seven shot attempts.
After ending the first half with a 1-0 lead, the Broncos collected a couple of insurance goals as
Jose Garcia notched his second goal of the season in the 71st minute.

Sergi Monso earned his 19
th goal of the season giving the Broncos a 3-0 lead late in the match. The goal marked the 19
th of the season for Monso and his 36
th career goal as a Broncos, breaking the program record for career goals set in 1988 by Johnny Lima. Along with that, Monso's 19th goal ties the single season record for most goals.
Sunday's championship match is slated to begin at 11:30 a.m., at the Triton Soccer Stadium on the campus of UC San Diego.
