Women's Basketball Earns Road Victory Over CSUSB

POMONA – The Cal Poly Pomona women's basketball team made it two in a row on Tuesday night, defeating Cal State San Bernardino 60-49 on the road.


THE BASICS:

HOW IT HAPPENED:
-    CPP jumped out to a quick 8-3 lead in the first quarter and held on to that lead throughout the remainder of the half.
-    With four minutes left to play in the second quarter, CPP held the Coyotes to only two field goals and a shooting percentage of 12 percent from the field.
-    San Bernardino turned things around after a timeout, hitting three straight three-pointers to end the half 5-of-8 from the arc, trailing 27-23.
-    The Broncos held CSUSB to only 25 percent shooting in the game, giving up only 14 made shots.
-    The Coyotes stayed alive with the three ball, shooting 9-of-18 on the night.
-    CSUSB came within a basket of the Broncos to start the second half before back to back buckets by Alyssa Benton, including a three-pointer, gave CPP an eight-point lead.
-    CPP took their largest lead with five minutes to go in the game, going ahead by 13 points to seal the win.

KEY PERFORMERS: 
-    Chelsea Waddy-Blow finished as the top scorer for the Broncos, collecting 14 points and 11 rebounds to earn a double-double.
-    Casey McWilliam also scored in double figures, tallying 13 points while going 5-of-5 from the field including 3-of-3 from beyond the arc.
-    Jackie Ricketson collected a game-high eight assists while adding 12 points in the process.

OUTSIDE THE BOX: 
-    The Broncos have won two straight conference games and are 5-1 in their last six games.
-    CPP has now won 10 of the last 12 meetings with the Coyotes.
-    The Broncos defense has now held opponents to 50 or fewer points in four contests this season.

COMING UP NEXT:
The Broncos will make their return to Kellogg Arena on Friday, Dec. 29 as they welcome in Cal State Monterey Bay.
