ARCATA, Calif. – The Cal Poly Pomona men's basketball team saw their winning streak end at six games on Saturday night, losing 71-60 at Humboldt State in Lumberjack Arena.
The loss drops the Broncos to 9-11 overall and 7-9 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association while the Lumberjacks improve to 12-12, 6-10 CCAA.
Both teams battled back on forth in the first half with neither team able to take control. The Broncos built their largest lead of the half at 19-13 before edging out Humboldt State 23-22 heading into the break.
Jordan Ogundiran and
Jeremy Dennis each finished with a team high 14 points while
Chris Sullivan finished with 13 points. Ogundiran also added a team high seven rebounds.
The second half continued with both teams exchanging points to a 54-54 tie with 3:09 on the clock. The Lumberjacks hit two back-to-back three pointers during an 8-0 run with two minutes remaining to break away from the Broncos.
Riley Schaefer ended the night with seven points and four rebounds while Sullivan and Dennis finished with five and four rebounds respectively.
The Broncos will continue their road stint next week as they travel to UC San Diego and Cal State San Bernardino.
