LA JOLLA, Calif. – The Cal Poly Pomona men's basketball came up against a tough UC San Diego squad on Friday night, falling to the Tritons on the road 72-50.
UCSD currently holds first-place in the California Collegiate Athletic Association, improving to 20-5 overall and 15-3 in conference while the Broncos move to 9-12 and 7-10 CCAA.
Jordan Ogundiran and
Nikhil Peters led the offense for the Broncos, each scoring 10 points in the game while Ogundiran added four rebounds.
The Broncos started the night well, staying close with the Tritons throughout the first half. As CPP closed the gaps, UCSD continuously found ways to answer back, securing the lead with a field goal percentage of 49 percent in the game and 57 percent in the second half.
Other contributors for the Broncos include
Jeremy Dennis with eight points and four rebounds while
Chris Sullivan ended with four points, two rebounds and two assists.
On Saturday, the Broncos will travel to CSU San Bernardino who are tied in the CCAA standings with CPP at 7-10. The winner of that game will hold an advantage in the standings and the final playoff spot heading into the last weekend of conference play.
