Broncos Streak Continues with Sixth Straight Win

POMONA, Calif. – Freshman Riley Schaefer came up big for the Broncos' men's basketball team, hitting a clutch three with less than two minutes to go, sparking CPP to a 67-64 win over Cal State Los Angeles on Saturday night in Kellogg Arena.

The win marks the Broncos sixth straight as they improve to 9-10 on the year and 7-8 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.

Jordan Ogundiran led Cal Poly Pomona with 20 points while Justin Young and William Christmas each totaled nine points. Schaefer finished the night with eight points and a team high seven rebounds.

Trailing 8-2 to start the night, the Broncos used a seven point surge to overcome the Golden Eagles at the 16-minute mark. CPP never trailed from that point on.

The Broncos shot 52 percent from the field while holding CSULA to a mark of 36 percent in the game.

Led by Roderick Evans-Taylor, CSU Los Angeles tied the game up 62-62 with 2:05 left to play.

Starting with Schaefer's three, the Broncos hit two free throws down the stretch to keep the streak alive for one more week.

CPP makes the long trip north next week for a match up against Humboldt State, set for Feb. 11.
