Broncos Tally 12 Runs in Game Two Win Over CSU Los Angeles

POMONA, Calif. – Scoring double-digit runs in back to back nights, the Cal Poly Pomona baseball team defeated Cal State Los Angeles in game two of the four-game series 12-3 on Friday afternoon at Scolinos Field.
 
After falling behind 1-0 in the first inning, the Broncos scored their first flurry of runs in the bottom of the first, led by a two-run double by Kyle Candalla. Frankie Nogales also earned an RBI with a single while Cody Martin reached home on a fielder's choice to second base.
 
Jason Padlo added another run in the fourth inning after singling down the left field line to bring in Martin for his second run.
 
Martin finished with four hits two RBIs and three runs while Nogales totaled three hits, three RBIs and three runs.
 
Jeremy Taylor notched his first win of the season throwing 7.1 innings with eight hits and only two earned runs. He improves to 1-1 on the season.
 
The Broncos scored three more runs in the fifth capped off by a two-RBI single by Martin, and two more times in the sixth after an RBI single by Nogales who later came around to score on an error by the second baseman.
 
The Broncos will take a two-game advantage into tomorrow's doubleheader as they close out the series against CSULA at 1 p.m. on the road.
