POMONA, Calif. – The Cal Poly Pomona baseball team used an eighth inning rally to hold off Stanislaus State in the third and final game of the series, winning 7-3 on Sunday afternoon at Scolinos Field.
The Broncos (15-14, 11-7 CCAA) scored a run in the first three innings to take a 3-0 advantage early on the day.
Chris Stratton scored the first run after a passed ball brought him home from third. In the second inning, Stratton forced a bases load walk to score
Dylan McDowell, who picked up the run in the third inning after a sacrifice fly.
Kyle Dohy started on the mound for CPP, pitching 5 1/3 innings with only three hits, one run and four strikeouts.
Picking up the win was
Ryan Alsworth, his second win of the season as he improves to 2-1. Alsworth pitched 2 2/3 innings, giving up four hits and one run with two strikeouts.
Jason Padlo and
Bryce Graddy each had two hits while Stratton finished with one hit, a walk and two RBIs.
Tied 3-3 in the eighth inning, the Broncos tallied four runs to avoid the sweep, and secure the win in game three.
The Broncos continue CCAA North Division action next weekend as they travel to CSU Monterey Bay for a three-game series starting on Apr. 1.
