POMONA, Calif. – With the outright California Collegiate Athletic Association South Division regular season title, the Cal Poly Pomona baseball team has secured the second-seed in the conference championship tournament set to begin on Wednesday, May 10 at the Banner Island Ballpark in Stockton, Calif.
The six team double-elimination tournament features the top three teams from each division, seeded by their regular season standings.
The Broncos will faceoff with No. 5 Cal State Monterey Bay on Wednesday in the second game of the tournament, with first pitch scheduled for 3 p.m.
CPP closed out the regular season winning their last 11 games, holding a record of 31-18, 27-11 CCAA heading into the tournament.
Jason Padlo leads the CCAA with a batting average of .405, racking up the third most hits with 66. The Broncos are one of the top offensive team in the league, holding a team BA of .314, tallying 317 runs.
Ranking sixth in the CCAA in BA at .376,
Daniel Pitts is also fifth in RBIs with 44, fifth in homeruns with eight and eighth in doubles with 14.
Chris Stratton's 67 hits is second in the conference while he leads in runs scored (51) and is third in stolen bases (22).
On the mound, CPP hold the fifth lowest ERA at 3.97, but is first in strikeouts with 336 total.

Kyle Dohy and
Henry Omana are the top three strikeout leaders in the CCAA, recording 80, 77 and 76 strikeouts respectively.
Bain finishes the regular season with a team high eight wins while Omana holds the lowest ERA among the starting rotation at 2.51.
For Monterey Bay, they have won four of the six games played against CPP this season but have struggled recently, losing six of the last eight games in the CCAA. The Otters rank seventh in BA (.285) and seventh in ERA (4.45).
