East Bay Too Much for Broncos in Overtime

HAYWARD – The Cal Poly Pomona women's basketball team suffered an overtime loss to Cal State East Bay, losing 76-67 on the road on Friday night.


THE BASICS:

HOW IT HAPPENED:
-    The game started very evenly for both squads as they played to a 15-15 tie at the end of the first quarter.
-    As the game continued, East Bay pulled ahead in the second quarter to take a 10-point lead before an 8-0 run by the Broncos kept the game to within a single score once again.
-    The Pioneers edged out CPP in shooting percentage, 46 percent to 38 percent while the Broncos tallied 20 points off turnovers.
-    As each team traded off points, the Pioneers took a two-point lead heading into the fourth quarter, ahead 55-53.
-    Casey McWilliam opened the fourth quarter with a three-pointer to give the Broncos the lead for the first time since the second quarter.
-    In overtime, East Bay opened the period with a three-pointer, holding on the lead for the remainder of the night to hang on to the win.

KEY PERFORMERS: 
-    Chelsea Waddy-Blow led the Broncos on offense, tallying 21 points while adding six rebounds and two steals.
-    Priscilla Brooks and Alyssa Benton scored 10 and nine points respectively while Jackie Ricketson totaled seven steals to go along with eight points.
-    Kerianne Noonan tied a team high in rebounds with six on the night.

OUTSIDE THE BOX: 
-    With the loss, the Broncos snap a two-game winning streak, losing their third straight road game against the Pioneers dating back to the 2015-16 season.
-    CPP remains in second-place in the league standings, sitting ahead of third-place Humboldt State by one game.

The Broncos continue their road trip as they head to Cal State Monterey Bay for a conference matchup on Saturday.
