Men's XC Earns At-Large Bid To Nationals

2018 NCAA Division II Cross Country Championship Central

INDIANAPOLIS -- After a fourth place finish at regionals this past Saturday, the Cal Poly Pomona men's cross country team has earned an at-large bid into the 2018 NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships on Saturday, December 1st at 11:00 am Eastern Time (8:00 am Pacific Time) in Pittsburgh, Pa., it was announced by the NCAA Monday.  The Broncos will be making their fifth appearance at Nationals in the last six years and their 20th appearance all-time.

The championship race will be held at Bob O'Connor Golf Course at Schenley Park. Clarion University of Pennsylvania, Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania and SportsPITTSBURGH will serve as hosts.

Thirty-four teams were selected to participate in each championship. The top three, seven-person teams automatically qualified from each of the eight regions, for a total of 24 teams. Ten additional teams were selected at-large. A minimum of 24 additional individuals were selected to participate in each championship through an automatic qualifier and at-large selection process. The list of advancing teams and individuals is outlined below.

Chico State, Simon Fraser and Alaska Anchorage grabbed the West Region's automatic bids by virtue of finishing in the Top 3 of the regional meet this past weekend in Billings, Mont.  Western Washington was the only other West Region team besides CPP to grab an at-large bid; WWU placed fifth in the regional on Saturday, one place behind the Broncos.
