POMONA – The Cal Poly Pomona baseball team dropped their first road game of the season, losing to Concordia University (Calif.) 3-2 to open the two-game series in Irvine.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- In what started as a pitching duel, neither team was able to add a run as the score remained 0-0 heading into the third inning.
- The Broncos finally broke the scoreless tie as Nick Peifer crossed home plate from third base on a wild pitch.
- In the eighth inning, Concordia managed to tie the game, after a single up the middle brought in the tying run.
- As the game went into extra innings, CPP found themselves with the lead once again as Cody Martin singled into right center to score Jacob Bernardy in the top of the 12th inning.
- The Eagles answered in the bottom half of the inning, hitting a two-run homer for the walk-off win, 3-2.
KEY PERFORMERS:
- With another strong outing from the mound, Austin Isenhart led the Broncos, tossing eight innings with seven strikeouts while allowing only three hits and one earned run.
- Drew Cowley, Matt Manskar and Martin each finished with two hits while Martin scored the lone RBI for CPP.
OUTSIDE THE BOX:
- The Eagles extend their winning streak over the Broncos to three games after sweeping the two-game series during the 2017 campaign.
