HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Offense was hard to come by for both teams as they combined for only 17 hits and three runs.
  • The Broncos tallied their first run in the third inning as Drew Cowley grounded out to second base, scoring Bryce Graddy in the process.
  • CPP added another run in the fifth inning as Matt Manskar hit a sacrifice fly to right field, scoring Cesar Lopez to go up 2-0.
  • San Marcos made things interesting in the top of the ninth inning, scoring a run on a wild pitch but a throw from Cody Martin to third base in the process gave the Cougars two outs and stopped their momentum.

KEY PERFORMERS:
  • Ryan Alsworth picked up his second win of the season to improve to 2-0 after tossing seven scoreless innings while giving up six hits and totaling eight strikeouts.
  • Brian Conley picked up his first save of the season as he threw two innings with three hits and one earned run.
