POMONA – The Cal Poly Pomona baseball team split their doubleheader against the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs on Saturday, winning game one 13-4 while falling in game two 10-1 at Scolinos Field.

GAME ONE:
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Broncos scored an earlier run in the first inning but saw their lead disappear briefly as the Mountain Lions scored three runs in the top of the second inning.
- CPP tied the game in the bottom of the second as
Cody Martin forced a bases-loaded walk followed by a sacrifice fly by
Brennan McKenzie.
- Colorado Springs took the lead once again, scoring a solo home run in the third to go up 4-3.
- After that, the Broncos tossed six scoreless innings while breaking away with a seven-run sixth inning to seal the victory.
KEY PERFORMERS:

Dylan Francis gave up three earned runs in five innings with six strikeouts in his first day on the mound for the Broncos.

Peter Beattie tossed four scoreless innings to pick up the win, allowing only two hits with four strikeouts.
- For the second game in a row,
Nic Hernandez tallied three hits while earning two RBI's.
- Also in his first game with the Broncos,
Hunter Tidwell scored two RBI's launching a home run in the bottom of the seventh inning after coming in as a pinch hitter.
GAME TWO:
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Mountain Lions jumped out ahead of the Broncos in game two, scoring three runs to start the first inning.
- UCCS tossed six scoreless innings with CPP's only run coming in the fourth inning off a sacrifice fly.
- Colorado Springs pulled away in the fifth inning, tallying five runs while adding two more in the sixth.
KEY PERFORMERS:
- Hernandez and Tidwell each tallied two hits in game two while McKenzie scored the lone RBI on a sacrifice fly to score

Michael Gomez took the loss for the Broncos, throwing four innings with five hits, three earned runs, and five strikeouts.
OUTSIDE THE BOX:
- In game one of the doubleheader, the Broncos scored all seven of their sixth innings runs with two outs already in the inning.
- Colorado Springs avoids the series sweep against the Broncos, going down 2-1 with one game remaining.
