Broncos Set for Big Week as They Look to Hold on to First

Pomona – Cal Poly Pomona men's basketball team will have a big week ahead, playing Cal State San Marcos at home on Tuesday before traveling to UC San Diego on Friday and rematch on the road at San Marcos on Saturday.
 
This week will have big implications in the conference standings, with CPP ranked first and San Marcos following in second place, only one win behind the Broncos in conference play.

Last Week: The Broncos (16-4, 13-3 CCAA) suffered a home loss against Stanislaus State 62-58, in the only contest of the week. Jordan Ogundiran and William Christmas both finished with 12 points to lead the team in scoring.
 
By the Numbers: The Broncos are the number one scoring defense in the conference, holding teams to an average of 61 points a game. Teams are shooting 37 percent from the floor and 29 percent from beyond the arc. As a team, they average 69.2 points a game with Ogundiran leading the team in scoring and assists, averaging 14.5 points per game and 4.2 assists per a game which ranks him sixth and fourth respectively in the CCAA. Christmas leads the team in rebounding with 6.7 rebounds a game which ranks him seventh in the CCAA. Last season against the Cougars, the Broncos lost both games.
 
Cougar Report: San Marcos (17-4, 13-3 CCAA) is an offensive power house in the conference. They lead the CCAA in points per game averaging over 81 points. They are a highly efficient team, shooting 47 percent from the field and 41 percent from beyond the arc which are both tops in the conference. Guard Ethan Alvano leads the CCAA in average points per game with almost 22 points a game.
 
Triton Report:  San Diego (15-7, 12-4 CCAA) is coming off a tough loss against San Francisco State. A win against the Gators would have tied them for the top spot in the conference with the Broncos. As a team, they average 72 points a game. Defensively, they are the third best scoring defense in the CCAA allowing 68 points a game. Look out for the Christians in this matchup. UCSD has two players in the top three in scoring in Christian Bayne and Christian Oshita.
