SAN BERNARDINO – After struggling the pervious series, the Cal Poly Pomona baseball team found some offense, using a five-run seventh inning to defeat Cal State San Bernardino 9-5 on the road in the first of four games against the Coyotes.

GAME SUMMARY:
- The Coyotes struck first, hitting an RBI double in the bottom of the first inning to take a quick 1-0 lead.
- CPP answered right back, scoring on run in the second inning and another in the third to go up 2-1. Cody Martin singled down the left field line to score Drew Cowley who tallied an RBI in the third inning with a single to score Matt Manskar.
- Both teams traded off the lead starting in the fourth inning as the Coyotes tallied two runs off a double and a wild pitch. The Broncos answered back in the fifth as Nick Peifer grounded out to second base, scoring Nic Hernandez in the process to the game 5-5. CPP took the lead for good as Cowley tallied his second RBI with a single to right field.
- The Broncos pulled away from San Bernardino, scoring five runs in the seventh inning starting with a sacrifice fly by Bryce Graddy. Jacob Bernardy followed with a double while Martin hit a two-RBI single to five CPP an 8-3 lead.
- Cesar Lopez scoring the final run for the Broncos with a single to right field.
KEY PERFORMERS:
- Ryan Alsworth picked up his third win of the year as he tossed six 1/3-innings, allowing three runs off of five hits while finishing with nine strikeouts.
- Martin finished with two hits and a team high three RBIs while Cowley tallied three hits with two RBIs and two walks.
- Also tallying three hits was Lopez who ended with an RBI and a walk.

The Broncos return to Scolinos Field on Saturday as they host a doubleheader against the Coyotes before returning to San Bernardino on Sunday for the series finale.
