POMONA – The Cal Poly Pomona baseball team capped off game one of the series against San Francisco State scoring five runs in the ninth to defeat the Gators 8-2 on the road on Friday.

GAME SUMMARY:
- The Broncos fell behind early in the contest as San Francisco State opened with two runs in the first inning, starting with a home run to go up 2-0.
- CPP tied things up in the third inning as Cody Martin singled to score Jacob Bernardy followed by a double from Cesar Lopez.
- With the game tied through six innings of play, Nic Hernandez gave the Broncos the lead with a solo home run down the right field line to go up 3-2.
- The Broncos added a few more insurance runs in the ninth inning, scoring two runs off a throwing error by the Gators to begin the inning. Nick Peifer singled down the right field line for an RBI while Sean Grebeck hit an RBI single and Bryce Graddy drove in a run after reaching base on a fielder's choice.
KEY PERFORMERS:
- Ryan Alsworth started on the mound for the Broncos, tossing six innings with two runs off of seven hits. He also finished with six strikeouts.
- Picking up the win was Tim Holdgrafer who improves to 2-0 on the year. He threw two scoreless innings with two hits and one strikeout.
- Six players earned at least one RBI for the Broncos while Hernandez and Bernardy led with two hits each.
