POMONA – The Cal Poly Pomona baseball team finished with a split in Friday's double header against Sonoma State, winning game one 10-3 before falling in game two 5-3 at Scolinos Field.

GAME ONE:
GAME SUMMARY:
- The Seawolves jumped out to an early lead against the Broncos, hitting a sacrifice fly in the first inning before adding runs in the second and fourth inning to go up 3-0.
- CPP scored their first run of the game in the bottom of the fourth as Drew Cowley came around to score on an error by first base.
- The Broncos took over in the seventh inning as they scored six total runs to go up 7-3. CPP scored two off back to back singles by Cesar Lopez and Nic Hernandez before a double by Brennan McKenzie scored another. Cowley cleared the bases with a two-RBI single before Matt Manskar scored the final run of the inning with a single to left field.
- Jacob Bernardy started the eighth inning with a single before back to back home runs by Hernandez and McKenzie gave CPP a 10-3 lead.
KEY PERFORMERS:
- Austin Isenhart started on the mound for CPP, picking up his fourth win as he improves to 4-1 overall on the year. He finished with seven innings pitched, giving up three runs off nine hits with three strikeouts.
- Peter Beattie tossed two innings in relief, giving up zero runs with one hit and one strikeout.
- Hernandez tallied three RBIs off of two hits while McKenzie and Cowley collected two RBIs each.
GAME TWO:
GAME SUMMARY:
- Sonoma State opened the second game with a run once again, leading off with a double before scoring on an error.
- CPP tied the contest in the third inning as Lopez hit a single up the middle to score Alex Kline who reached base on a double.
- Scoring continued for the Broncos in the fourth inning as they tallied two runs off a throwing error by third base to go up 3-1.
- The Seawolves cut into CPP's lead in the sixth inning, hitting a double to score one run with two on base. The Broncos held onto the lead as Bernardy caught a fly ball before throwing home for the final out in the inning to complete the double play.
- Sonoma State avoided the sweep in the seventh inning, hitting a two-RBI double in before scoring a third run on a wild pitch to go ahead 5-3.
- CPP managed runners at second and third in the bottom of the seventh with two outs but couldn't manage another hit as they split the doubleheader.
KEY PERFORMERS:
- Cowley and Kline each finished with two hits while Graddy collected two RBIs and Lopez finished with one run batted in.
- Dylan Francis tossed five 1/3 innings, allowing two runs off five hits with a total of six strikeouts.
- Taking the loss for CPP was Ben Mora who alled three runs off of two hits with two strikeouts.
