POMONA - The Cal Poly Pomona baseball split their four-game series with UC San Diego as each team picked up a win in Sunday's doubleheader to close out the series at Scolinos Field.
THE BASICS:
Final Game One: UC San Diego 2, Cal Poly Pomona 4
Final Game Two: UC San Diego 8, Cal Poly Pomona 7

GAME ONE
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Â Â The Tritons struck first with a double down the left field line to score a run in the first inning.
- Â Â CPP quickly answered in the bottom half of the inning as
Brennan McKenzie doubled to score
Drew Cowley followed by a groundout by
Cesar Lopez that brought in
Cody Martin.
- Â Â The Broncos got two more runs in the second inning as Cowley doubled to score
Nick Peifer and Martin singled to left field to score
Jacob Bernardy, giving the Broncos a 4-1.
- Â Â CPP's offense went silent after that as they tallied 10 hits on the day with six scoreless innings.
- Â Â UCSD got one run back in the top of the fifth, hitting a sacrifice fly to left field.Â
KEY PERFORMERS:Â
- Â Â Four Broncos tallied RBIs in the win with Cowley, McKenzie, and Lopez each finishing with two hits.
- Â Â McKenzie ended with two doubles on the day as well.

Dylan Francis picked up his first win of the season as he threw 5.1 innings allowing two runs off of seven hits with two strikeouts.

Ben Mora who tossed 3.2 innings with only two hits and five strikeouts.
GAME TWO
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Â Â Bases were easy to come by in game two as both teams combined for 10 hit by pitches and 15 walks.
- Â Â CPP took the early lead in the first inning when McKenzie singled to score Martin. They added another run in the third and two more in the fourth to go up 4-0.
- Â Â In the fifth inning, the Tritons loaded the bases off of two hit by pitches and a walk before finishing the inning with four runs to tie the game.
- Â Â The lead went right back to the Broncos once again, Bernardy hit a two-RBI single to left field to go up 6-2.
- Â Â In the top of the sixth, UCSD once again found themselves with runners in scoring position as they put up another four-run inning to take an 8-6 advantage.
- Â Â The Broncos earned one run in the seventh before loading the bases with two outs before a strikeout ended the night.Â
KEY PERFORMERS:Â
- Â Â Bernardy finished with two hits and four RBIs in the game to lead the Broncos offensively.
- Â Â McKenzie added two RBIs off of two hits while Lopez finished with three hits and an RBI.

Michael Gomez tossed 4.2 innings for the Broncos, tallying seven strikeouts while giving up four runs off of two hits
Brian Conley took the loss on the day, giving up four runs in 1.1 innings while finishing with four strikeouts.
