Last Week: The Broncos (18-16, 15-13) lost their series against Cal State East Bay. CPP won the second game 7-0. They dropped the first game 1-0, the third game 3-1 and the final game of the series 3-1. Bronco pitching combined to throw 34 innings while only allowing seven runs.
Dylan Francis tossed seven shutout innings while striking out five in route to pick up the win for the Broncos. In the three losses, CPP combined for 21 hits to drive in two runs. They scored 7 of their 9 runs in game two of off 13 hits. Nic
Hernandez went 6-13 with three runs batted in and a home run in the series.
Brennan McKenzie went 2-3 with a 3-run homerun in the game two win.
By the Numbers: As a team, their batting average is .302 which is second in the CCAA. As a pitching staff, their ERA is 3.71 which is third in the conference.
Hernandez leads the team with a .380 batting average and 26 runs batted in. He is second on the team with six home runs. McKenzie leads the Broncos in home runs with seven.
Ryan Alsworth leads the starters on the team with a 2.42 ERA. The Broncos are one of the most well-rounded teams as they are in the top half of nearly every offensive and defensive category. Last year against Monterey Bay, the Broncos played two three-game series, winning two of the six games against the Otters.
Otter Report: Monterey Bay (26-8, 20-8) comes in having won eight of their last 10 games and travels well with a 13-2 road record. They currently sit atop of the CCAA with a juggernaut of an offense. As a team they lead the conference with a .305 batting average and 235 runs batted in. They are second in home runs with 30. However, their pitching is average with a 4.85 collective ERA. Connor Fabing has allowed only four earned runs in 26 innings while collecting eight saves to lead the Otters. TJ Dove leads the team with a .385 batting average which is second in the CCAA. Hayden Duer leads the conference in home runs with 11 and is followed closely by his teammate Jacob Tonascia with 10.
