POMONA – The Cal Poly Pomona baseball took a 2-1 series lead over Cal State Monterey Bay after splitting Saturday's doubleheader, losing game one 6-2 before winning the second game 4-2 at Scolinos Field.

GAME ONE:
GAME SUMMARY:
- A pitcher's duel for a majority of the game, the Otters broke the scoreless tie in the fourth inning scoring one run with an RBI single up the middle of the field.
- Monterey Bay doubled their lead in the sixth, hitting a single to left field to up 2-0 on the Broncos.
- CPP tallied their first run in the bottom of the sixth as Nic Hernandez grounded out to to the pitcher, scoring Jacob Bernardy from third base.
- CSUMB sealed the win in game of the doubleheader, scoring four runs in the top of the ninth inning, starting with a sacrifice fly to left field before three straight singles.
- Hernandez earned one run back in the bottom of the inning, hitting a solo home run to straight center field but it wouldn't be enough.
KEY PERFORMERS:
- Dylan Francis (3-3) takes the loss for the Broncos after a solid outing, pitching eight innings with two runs off of eight hits with five strikeouts.
- Hernandez finished with two RBIs off of one hit with one run scored to lead CPP at the plate.
GAME TWO:
GAME SUMMARY:
- The Broncos jumped ahead early in game two, scoring two runs in the first inning, one coming off a balk while the other coming off a single by Drew Cowley to score Hernandez.
- Monterey Bay came back to tie the game in the fifth inning, scoring one run off a CPP error followed by an RBI groundout.
- CPP took the lead for good in the bottom of the sixth inning as Alex Kline hit a single over the shortstop's glove to score Cowley. The Broncos added another run when Matt Manksar singled to right field, sending Martin home from second base.
KEY PERFORMERS:
- Tim Holdgrafer pitched the complete seven innings in game two, allowing two runs off four hits while striking out seven batters.
- Manskar finished with two hits and a walk with one RBI on the day.
