POMONA – The Cal Poly Pomona baseball team will look to lock up a spot in the California Collegiate Athletic Association postseason tournament as they face Cal State Dominguez Hills in their regular season finale.
The Broncos will host the first two games of the four-game series at Scolinos Field beginning Thursday, May 3, before closing out on the road in Carson, CA.

Last Week: The Broncos (20-18, 17-15) split against Chico State. CPP lost the first game 1-5 and the third game 1-0. They won game two 6-3 and game four 12-10. In their wins, the Bronco offense scored early and often.
Jacob Bernardy continued to torment Chico State going 6-14 for a .428 batting average. He collected five RBI in the last game of the series; three of them coming of a three-run home run.
Tim Holdgrafer pitched his third consecutive complete seven inning game allowing three hits and one earned run in game three.
By the Numbers: As a team, they collected 450 total hits which results in a .293 batting average. As a pitching staff, their ERA is 3.81 which is second in the conference.
Nic Hernandez leads the team with a .341 batting average and is tied for the team lead in home runs with
Brennan McKenzie at seven a piece.
Ryan Alsworth leads the starters on the team with a 2.71 ERA.
Darin May leads relievers with a 2.81 ERA in 16 innings out of the pen. The Broncos defensive performance is one of the best in the conference as they are in the top of most categories. Last year against the Toros, the Broncos swept the four-game series, outscoring the Toros by 21 combined runs.
Toro Report: Dominguez Hills (17-29, 14-26) comes in on a four-game winning streak. As a team, they posted a .258 batting average which is the worst in the CCAA. Their 6.81 team ERA is second worst in the conference. They are in the bottom of almost every defensive and offensive category. Kevin Lugo leads the team with a .319 batting average and Dalton Duarte leads the team with 14 home runs.
