STOCKTON – With the 2018 regular season in the books, the Cal Poly Pomona baseball team sets their sights on the California Collegiate Athletic Association Postseason Tournament beginning Wednesday, May 9, at Banner Island Ballpark.
The Broncos, who hold the fourth-seed in the tournament, will open play against third-seeded Chico State on Wednesday with first-pitch set for 7 p.m.
The marks the fifth straight year the Broncos have made the CCAA postseason tournament and the second time they will open the tournament against Chico State in that timeframe.

Last Week: The Broncos secured their spot in the tournament picking up a series victory against Cal State Dominguez Hills, taking three out of four games from the Toros.
Bryce Graddy led the Broncos at the plate with five hits and eight RBIs in the four-game stint. On the mound,
Dylan Francis picked up his fifth win of the season, tossing seven innings with two runs off of five hits and nine strikeouts.

Ryan Alsworth has been a workhorse on the mound, pitching 80 innings and securing a team-best six wins on the season. He has totaled 67 strikeouts while Francis leads the pitching staff with 72 punch outs on the year.

Pitcher's Duel in the Making: Wednesday's opening round matchup pits the top two pitching teams in the conference against each other with Chico State leading the CCAA with a 3.39 ERA while the Broncos rank second at 3.82. CPP edges out the Wildcats 384 strikeouts to 369 while the Broncos give up the fewest home runs with 19 on the year.
At the Plate: The Broncos and Wildcats are as even at the plate as they are on the mound as Chico ranks third in the league with a .297 batting average, followed by CPP at .296. Chico has scored 298 runs off of 489 hits while the Broncos have scored 293 runs off of 497 hits. CPP edges out the Wildcats, totaling 27 home runs on the year to 20.
Season Series: In their four-game series nearly two weeks ago, CPP and Chico State split with both teams trading off wins. The Wildcats held on to win a close one, 1-0 in game three while the Broncos concluded the series with a 12-10 victory, holding off two comebacks by Chico.
