STOCKTON – In what has become routine when the Cal Poly Pomona baseball team takes on Chico State, drama filled Banner Island Ballpark as the Wildcats edged out the Broncos 4-3 with a walk-off bases-loaded wild pitch in the opening round of the California Collegiate Athletic Association Postseason Tournament.

GAME SUMMARY:
- The Broncos jumped ahead in the first inning, as Drew Cowley singled up the middle, advancing to second on a fielding error by Chico. After Nic Hernandez singled to right field, Cowley scored on a wild pitch from third.
- Brennan McKenzie brought in the second run of the inning, hitting a shallow shot to right center to give CPP a 2-0 advantage.
- Chico State got their first hit in the third inning, a lead-off single, before tying the game 2-2 with a home run to left center field.
- Tim Holdgrafer settled back in on the mound, retiring 10 straight batters before Chico broke the streak in the sixth inning with a two-out single but couldn't bring the run home.
- With two outs in the seventh, Chico State lines a ball to center field, scoring a runner from second base to take a 3-2 lead.
- In the eighth, Jacob Bernardy reached based on a throwing error by Chico's shortstop, advancing to second on the play, but no damage done as a groundout to third and a fly out to center ends the inning.
- Down 3-2 in the top of the ninth, Hernandez found his pitch as he sends it over the right field fence to tie the game.
- The Wildcats led off with a single in the bottom of the ninth, stealing second before a wild pitch put the runner at third with one out in the inning. CPP loaded the bases with two intentional walks before striking out the next batter for their second out.
- Chico took the game with a walk-off wild pitch to win 4-3.
KEY PERFORMERS:
- Holdgrafter finished with eight innings pitched, allowing three runs off of five hits while eight strikeouts and a walk.
- Hernandez led the Broncos with two hits in the contest, finishing with two runs and an RBI. McKenzie also finished with an RBI, collecting one hit on the night.

The Broncos will face top-seeded Cal State Monterey Bay in an elimination game tomorrow afternoon with first pitch scheduled for 3 p.m.
