IRVINE, Calif. --
Allison Hung and
Aline Graham both scored their first goals of the season Wednesday, helping the Cal Poly Pomona women's soccer team to a 2-1 victory over host Concordia-Irvine Wednesday afternoon at Eagles Field in Irvine. The Broncos rise to 3-2 this season while the Eagles fall to 1-3.
It took just five minutes, five seconds for CPP to get things going when Hung took a pass from
Shayna Larson off the head, redirecting the sphere into the back of the net for the 1-0 lead. The advantage would stand at one goal until Graham notched the all-important insurance goal in the 65th minute to put the visiting Broncos up 2-0 with 25 minutes to play.
Less than four minutes later, Concordia-Irvine's Cienah Reed punched in her first goal of the season to make it 2-1, but that would end up being the final shot attempt by either team the rest of the way, resulting in the one-goal win by CPP.
The Eagles outshot the Broncos 10-6 in the contest as CPP goalkeeper
Sydney Williams made a season-high seven saves.
Taylor Scott and
Ally LaCarra-Platt accounted for the other four shots by the Broncos, each taking two.
Cal Poly Pomona returns home Saturday for its final non-conference tilt of the season, hosting Notre Dame de Namur at 4:30 pm. The Broncos will then kickoff CCAA action next Wednesday at Cal State San Bernardino.
