Win Streak Up To 12 With Victory Over Cougars

POMONA -- Kristen Hamlin and Andrea Bosnic each recorded double-digit kills and Alex Bollier led all defenders with 26 digs as the Cal Poly Pomona volleyball team continued its hot streak, defeating Cal State San Marcos Saturday night 3-1 (25-10, 25-16, 18-25, 25-21) at Kellogg Arena in Pomona.

The Broncos extend their win streak to 12 matches, improving to 13-1 overall and 6-0 in the CCAA.  The Cougars fell to 7-6 (3-2 CCAA).

It was another huge night for Hamlin, who turned in 17 kills and a fiery .500 hitting percentage, marking the third time this season the senior middle blocker has posted a .500 clip or better in a match.  She added four blocks for a match-high 19.5 points.  Bosnic put down 15 kills and added 16 digs on the other side of the net.  Chloe Fields-Owens has 22 digs to complement Bollier's aforementioned effort on the back line.

As a team, the Broncos hit .256 while holding the Cougars to just .090, which is the fifth time this season CPP has held an opponent under .100 on offense.

Cal Poly Pomona will enter next week with a couple of monumental showdowns, beginning with Wednesday night's contest at fifth-ranked Cal State San Bernardino, which also improved to 13-1 overall and 6-0 in the CCAA with a victory over UC San Diego Saturday night.  Then, after a Friday night tilt at Cal State Dominguez Hills (5-7, 0-4 CCAA) in Carson, the Broncos will head to Los Angeles Saturday night for a battle with undefeated Cal State L.A. (12-0, 4-0 CCAA).  All three matches next week are set for 7:00 pm.
