POMONA -- Just 36 seconds into overtime,
Jordan Jackmon put an end to the game, scoring a golden goal in the 91st minute to defeat visiting San Francisco State, 2-1, on Sunday afternoon at Kellogg Stadium in Pomona. The Broncos rise to 3-4 overall and 1-1 in the CCAA; all three of the victories this season have come in OT. The Gators fell to 4-2-2 (1-2-1 CCAA).
The Gators got on the board first, scoring in the 34th minute to take a 1-0 lead into halftime. Five minutes into the second half,
Ori Kenett buried his first goal of the season to knot the game at 1-1, but neither team could break the tie in regulation, leading to Jackmon's first goal of the year in the first minute of extra time.
The Broncos led 16-11 in shots and 8-4 in corner kicks. Goalkeeper
Jakob Hansen made five saves in the victory. His counterpart, SFSU's Peter Swinkels, made three stops on the other end of the pitch.
Cal Poly Pomona will return to action Friday, hosting Stanislaus State at 7:00 pm at Kellogg Stadium.
