LOS ANGELES -- The 25th-ranked Cal Poly Pomona volleyball team fell on the losing end Saturday of its second match against another nationally-ranked team this week, this time against No. 16 Cal State L.A., 3-0 (25-16, 25-18, 25-16), at University Gym in Los Angeles. The Broncos fall to 14-3 overall and 7-2 in the CCAA while the Golden Eagles improve to 14-1 (6-1 CCAA).
Hamlin scored a team-high nine kills, followed by seven from
Jenna Goldsberry and six from
Andrea Bosnic. Hamlin led with three blocks while Goldsberry and Bosnic each chipped in with seven digs, complemented by the eight digs from
Alex Bollier.
The Broncos never led in either the first or third sets, but held an advantage on several occasions early in the second set before the Golden Eagles stormed past the visitors to eventually complete the sweep.
Of the three loses suffered by the Broncos this season, the combined record of the three teams CPP has lost to this year is 43-6; Colorado Mesa is the only team with multiple losses (4) in 2018.
Cal Poly Pomona will head to Cal State San Marcos on Friday before wrapping up the five-game roadtrip Saturday at UC San Diego. First serve for both nights is set for 7:00 pm.
