SAN FRANCISCO -- Daisy Duke scored a team-high 9.5 points with seven kills and five assisted blocks, and both
Kaitlan Tucker and
Jazminn Parrish each had eight kills as the Cal Poly Pomona volleyball team ended a seven-match losing streak with a 3-0 sweep (25-17, 25-22, 25-19) over host San Francisco State on Friday night at The Swamp.
The Broncos rise to 5-13 overall and 3-8 in the CCAA while the Gators fall to 13-6 (6-4 CCAA).
After a convincing win in set one, the Broncos got off to a quick start in set two. However, with CPP ahead 11-9, SF State turned things around and held a 21-17 lead late in the set. That's when the Broncos came roaring back, scoring eight of the next nine points in the set to steal a 2-0 match lead. Cal Poly Pomona remained in command for the majority of the third and final set and rolled to the sweep of the Gators.
As a team, CPP hit .247 with
Kira Zimmerman handing out 28 assists. Defensively,
Brynn Sherbert recorded 19 digs and
Jane Woodward had seven blocks (one solo, six assisted).
Cal Poly Pomona will head across the Bay Bridge to Hayward on Saturday night to take on Cal State East Bay. First serve is set for 7:00 pm.
