SAN MARCOS, Calif. -- Taylor Scott and
Taylor Rasmussen each scored a goal as the Cal Poly Pomona women's soccer team notched a 2-0 shutout victory over host Cal State San Marcos on Sunday in San Marcos.
The Broncos rise to 6-3-0 overall and 2-1 in the CCAA. The Cougars fall to 3-4-2 (2-2 CCAA).
"Today's result was a great response from our group today against a very tough team," said CPP head coach
Jay Mason. "I am proud of our team's ability to find success in a very hostile environment."
Scott scored her CCAA-leading sixth goal of the season in the 17th minute on a pass from
Allyssa Larkin for the early 1-0 lead. Rasmussen then scored her first goal of the season on an assist from
Amanda Duran in the 51st minute.
The Broncos dominated the entire match, outshooting the Cougars 15-4, including 10-3 in the second half.
Sydney Williams scored the win between the posts for CPP, making three saves.
Cal Poly Pomona will head north on Friday to take on Chico State (7-2-1, 3-1 CCAA) at University Soccer Stadium in Chico. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:30 pm.
