POMONA -- Taylor Scott scored twice as the 22nd-ranked Cal Poly Pomona women's soccer team cruised to a 5-0 victory over Cal State East Bay on Friday night at Kellogg Stadium in Pomona.
The Broncos rise to 11-3-2 overall and remain in third place in the CCAA at 7-1-2 with an average of 2.3 points per match. The Pioneers fall to 5-7-3 (4-4-1 CCAA).
Scott got the scoring started in the 15th minute when
Ambria Pogue crossed over to Scott crashing towards the far post, just prior to blasting it into the net from six yards out. Pogue then joined the scoring affair in the 33rd minute when she redirected a chipped pass in from
Allyssa Larkin and into the left side of the net for the 2-0 lead.
Entering the second half with a two-goal lead, Scott came up big again, netting her 10th goal of the season in the 55th minute. She took a long pass from
Jazmin Duran, dribbled the ball past the diving keeper at the 18-yard line, then finished easily for the 3-0 lead.
The final two goals of the night both came from distance as both
Jillian Erwin and
Ally LaCarra-Platt buried shots from 25-yards out to seal the 5-0 win.
The Broncos dominated the entire game, outshooting the Pioneers 21-3, including 14-2 in the first half.
Sydney Williams and
Clarissa Sanchez combined for the shutout; neither needed to make a save in the contest. CPP has outscored its opponents 10-0 in its last three contests.
Cal Poly Pomona will play its final regular season home game Sunday when it hosts Cal State Monterey Bay at Kellogg Stadium. Kickoff is set for 2:00 pm.
