Lumberjack Women Edge Broncos in Arcata

ARCATA, Calif. -- Rebecca Islas scored a team-high 18 points, but the Cal Poly Pomona women's basketball team suffered a 73-65 loss to host Humboldt State on Thursday night at Lumberjack Arena in Arcata.

The Broncos (19-4 overall) remain in second place in the CCAA standings at 15-3, two and a half games behind third place Humboldt State at 12-5 (14-6 overall).

Dominique Dotson nailed a three-pointer just before time expired in the third period to knot the game at 58-58 with one quarter to play, but the Broncos were held to just 20 percent shooting from the floor (3 of 15) in the final 10 minutes and the Lumberjacks hit all eight of their free throws down the stretch to sneak by CPP in the end.

Only two Broncos scored in double-figures Thursday, one of which was Islas, who was 8 of 16 shooting with six rebounds, the other being Dotson with 11 points.  Jordyn Shane was held to just nine points, Kasey Smit had seven and Monica Todd with six.

For Humboldt State, Alexia Thrower and Isamar Conde dropped in 26 and 25 points, respectively, to account for 51 of HSU's 73 points in the contest.

Cal Poly Pomona heads to Chico State on Saturday for a 5:30 pm tipoff from Acker Gymnasium.
