Shane Scores 1,000th Point In Senior Night Win

POMONA -- Senior Jordyn Shane surpassed the 1,000-point milestone for her career, ending her Senior Night with 12 points and a 62-58 victory for the Cal Poly Pomona women's basketball team over visiting Cal State San Bernardino on Saturday at Kellogg Arena in Pomona.

The Broncos end the regular season with a 23-4 overall record, finishing second in the CCAA standings at 19-3.  The Coyotes fell to 10-16, and sees their season come to an end at 9-13 in the CCAA, finishing ninth in the final standings.

Clinching the No. 2 seed last week, it has been announced that Cal Poly Pomona will host No. 7 seed Sonoma State in the First Round of the CCAA Tournament on Tuesday at 5:30 pm.  The winner of Tuesday's game will advance to the CCAA semifinals in Hayward where Cal State East Bay will serve as a host for the semifinal and final rounds next Friday and Saturday.

Also in the First Round on Tuesday, top seed and undefeated UC San Diego will host No. 8 seed San Francisco State, No. 3 seed Humboldt State hosts No. 6 Cal State East Bay and No. 4 Cal State San Marcos hosts No. 5 Cal State Dominguez Hills.

Back to Senior Night, the Broncos controlled the first 30 minutes of the contest, taking a 51-37 lead into the fourth quarter, however, Cal State San Bernardino went on a 19-7 run over the first nine minutes of the fourth quarter to pull within two points at 58-56 with 34 seconds left, and then again at 60-58 with eight seconds remaining, but Shane was fouled with five seconds left and hit both free throws the seal the win.

Rebecca Islas led the Broncos with 15 points, followed by Shane with 12, as well as eight rebounds, five steals and four assists.  Monica Todd chipped in with 10 points and Dominique Dotson with nine.

On the other side of the floor, Jasmine Sauser and Kayla Bibb tied with 16 points apiece.
