HAYWARD, Calif. -- Riley Schaefer led the way with 17 points, nine rebounds and five steals, but the No. 20 Cal Poly Pomona men's basketball team fell short of a CCAA Tournament title with a 71-62 loss to UC San Diego in the conference tournament championship game on Saturday night at Pioneer Gymnasium in Hayward.
The Broncos (21-6) have their 14-game win streak snapped and will now await word on their NCAA Tournament fate, which will be announced via a live selection show Sunday at 7:30 pm at NCAA.com. The Tritons, who shared the regular season title with CPP, captured their third straight CCAA tournament title, improving to 25-7 this season.
Following the completion of the game, it was announced that
William Christmas was named to the CCAA All-Tournament Team for his efforts this week. He scored 12 points in Saturday's championship game.
