Tim Holdgrafer tossed a complete game, striking out 11 batters as the Cal Poly Pomona baseball team knocked off host Cal State Monterey Bay 15-5 on Friday night in the first game of a four-game set at the Otter Sports Complex in Seaside.
The Broncos rise to 16-19 overall and 14-15 in the CCAA. The Otters fall to 21-14 and 19-10 in the CCAA.
Angel Ortiz went 3 for 4 with a double and four runs scored,
Nic Hernandez went 2 for 5 with a double and three RBI and
Brennan McKenzie went 1 for 2 with a triple, three walks, three RBI and three runs scored to pace the CPP offense, which outhit CSUMB 17-10. The Broncos enjoyed a pair of four-run innings in the second and again in the eighth, also scoring in four other innings to account for the 15 runs.
Cal Poly Pomona and Cal State Monterey Bay return to the field Saturday for a doubleheader beginning at Noon.
