AZUSA, Calif. -- Jordan Jackmon gave the Cal Poly Pomona men's soccer team a 3-2 lead with his goal in the 68th minute, but Azusa Pacific rallied to score the equalizer in the 89th minute, then the game-winner just 1:49 into the first overtime as the Broncos suffered a 4-3 loss to the Cougars Thursday night in Azusa.
The Broncos fall to 0-2-1 on the year while the Cougars improve to 3-0.
Jimmie Villalobos didn't waste anytime getting CPP on the scoreboard, burying a goal just 7:16 into the match, but APU came back with goals in the 36th minute and again in the 42nd minute to take a 2-1 lead.
Courtland Hawkins netted a game-tying goal just before halftime to make it 2-2 at the intermission to account for the Broncos' scoring on the night.
CPP was outshot 17-9 in the contest, including 9-5 in shots on target.
Miguel Bayma made six stops in goal for the Broncos.
Cal Poly Pomona will next host its home opener next Thursday against Concordia-Irvine at Kellogg Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7:00 pm.
