Offense Explodes For Six Goals In Rout Of Hilo

POMONA -- Jimmie Villalobos and Cyro Oliveira each scored twice and Eduardo Faria and Omer Green also scored as the Cal Poly Pomona men's soccer team blasted visiting Hawaii Hilo, 6-0, on Monday night at Kellogg Stadium in Pomona.

The victory gave the Broncos' head coach Matt O'Sullivan his first-career head coaching victory as CPP will begin conference play Thursday with a 1-3-1 record.  The Vulcans fall to 0-3-0.

It only took two minutes, 17 seconds before the Broncos put one into the net, it came off the foot of Oliveira.  Then, not even two minutes later, Villalobos joined the party to make it 2-0 in favor of the hosts.  At 23:08, Villalobos struck again for his second goal of the game and his fifth goal of the year before Faria buried his shot at 31:37 to make it 4-0.  Oliveira came up big again at 42:07 as the Broncos took a 5-0 lead into halftime.  At 64:53, Green put an exclamation point on the night with his first goal of the year as CPP rolled to a 6-0 win.

In all, the Broncos outshot the Vulcans 21-9, including 9-1 on goal.  Taylor Chaplin and Miguel Bayma combined on the shutout between the posts as each saw 45 minutes of action.  Bayma made the one save, which came in the second half.

Cal Poly Pomona opens CCAA play at home Thursday against Cal State San Bernardino.  Kickoff is set for 7:00 pm.
