#2 Broncos Settle For 1-1 Tie With 'Jackets

BURNABY, British Columbia -- After falling behind 1-0 early, Jordan Jackmon buried the equalizer eight minutes later, but despite holding a 23-13 shot advantage in the contest, including a 12-5 margin of shots on target, the second-ranked Cal Poly Pomona men's soccer team had to settle for a 1-1 tie with Montana State Billings on Saturday at Terry Fox Field in Burnaby, BC.

The two-time defending West Region champion Broncos and the Yellowjackets both leave Canada with a 0-1-1 record to start the year.

MSUB got on the board first with an unassisted goal in the 18th minute by Shantik Bedrosian.

At 25:28, Jackmon took a pass from Garrett Jensen and fired it past Yellowjacket netminder Jessy Martin for the tying score, but that would be the extent of the offense by either squad the rest of the way.  CPP had its share of opportunities, keeping Martin busy between the posts as he stopped 11 shots in all.  Meanwhile, Broncos goalkeeper Miguel Bayma made four saves in his Cal Poly Pomona debut.

Of the 23 shots by the Broncos, Jackmon took eight of them and Jimmie Villalobos attempted five.

Cal Poly Pomona will next take on Azusa Pacific on Thursday in Azusa, kicking off at 7:30 pm in a rematch of last year's NCAA Division II West Region final.
