No. 18 Broncos Return To Win Column In Turlock

TURLOCK, Calif. – The 18th-ranked Cal Poly Pomona volleyball team got back to its winning ways, defeating host Stanislaus State in four sets (23-25, 25-15, 25-16, 25-22) on Friday night at Fitzpatrick Arena in Turlock.

The Broncos rise to 15-3 overall and 9-2 in the CCAA. The Warriors fall to 15-6 (6-5 CCAA).

The first set proved to be the toughest for CPP, as both teams fought through nine ties and three lead changes, but the Broncos struggled to find the momentum, falling 25-23 to open the match. From then on out, it was all Broncos, winning the next three sets in convincing fashion.

Three CPP players turned in double-digit kill efforts in the victory, led by the 16 off the hands of Daisy Duke, who hit .317 for the match. Samantha Campion chipped in with 15 kills alongside Madison Novak with 14 kills.  Caitie Mueller returned to the lineup to hand out 47 assists and score a match-high four service aces with 11 digs on defense. Both Mackenzie Sullivan and Avery Percival took care of the back line, recording 12 digs each.

Stanislaus State was led by the 14 kills of Ellison Weaver.

Cal Poly Pomona wraps up its brief two-match northern California road trip Saturday with a 2:00 pm matinee at Chico State.
