No. 14 Broncos Grab Ninth Shutout After Downing Seawolves

POMONA – The Cal Poly Broncos hosted the Sonoma State Seawolves for their senior day celebration. The Broncos collected their ninth shutout on the season, downing the Seawolves 4-0.

The first goal for the Broncos was scored by forward Jerry Ramirez off a penalty kick rewarded to CPP in the ninth minute. In the 35th minute, forward Kevin Hernandez scored the second goal for CPP off an assist by forward Paul Roger Henschke.

The final goal for the Broncos, Hernandez returned the favor finding Henschke for a goal in the 39th minute. This win brings CPP to an overall record of 10-1-4, and CCAA record of 5-0-3.

Leading the Broncos in shots was Ramirez as he collected six shots on the game all of which were on target for shots on goal. Forward Adrien Tompert, midfielder Mikey Sedano, midfielder Mike Moser, Hernandez, and midfielder Max Laguna each had two shots on the game, respectively.

"Today was a great lesson of how good we can be if we get the details right, compared to when we don't" said coach Matt O'Sullivan. "We just aren't the same quality. Today was a brilliant first half display from the whole team."

Coach O'Sullivan continued, "We still need to think not even one game at a time, but one play at a time. The Conference is very tight and everyone is playing for something."

CPP's next match is Friday, October 22nd against Cal State East Bay in Hayward with kickoff set for 4:30 pm.
