POMONA – The Cal Poly Pomona Broncos hosted the Sonoma State Seawolves at Kellogg Stadium. The Seawolves topped the Broncos, 2-1.

After SSU scored the first goal in the eighth minute, Nicolle Villarreal scored the tying goal off of an assist that started with Allyssa Larkin who found Jessica Llamas for a double assist.

The Seawolves score the final goal of the match to win the game in the 68th minute. With this loss the Broncos now have an overall record of 5-7-2 and a CCAA record of 4-3-1.

Phoebe Amaro, Llamas, Larkin, and Liberty Ortiz each took two shots on the game. The Broncos took 11 shots on the game with five of them shots on goal. Goalkeeper Audrey Brown closed the game with seven saves.

"I am really happy with the intensity and commitment the girls brought to the game today," said coach Jay Mason. "The team responded well to a couple of moments of adversity today which highlights their growth as a group. We need to clean up some key details in both 18 yard boxes, if we do that we will find the results we want."

CPP's next match is Friday, October 22nd against Cal State East Bay in Hayward with kickoff set for 7:00 pm.

Bronco Bits: Head coach Jay Mason moves to 48-39-18 in his seventh year (sixth season) at Cal Poly Pomona and 29-22-16 against CCAA opponents … The Broncos are now 182-140-52 in conference matches … CPP is now 8-24-5 against Sonoma State.
