SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – The Cal Poly Pomona sophomore guard Christopher Mitchell scored his career high 30 points in the triple overtime thriller as the Broncos topped the San Francisco State Gators, 96-89.

The Gators outscored the Broncos in the second half of the game 30-36, sending the game into overtime with the score, 60-60. In the second half alone, the score was tied for a total of five times. For SFSU, 25 of their second half points came from the bench against the Broncos 17 bench points.

In the first overtime, CPP was red hot hitting 5-5 (100%) from the field. With 33 seconds remaining, the Broncos were down 69-71 when Mitchell secured a defensive rebound and scored a fastbreak bucket to extend the game a second time with the score at 71-71.

Second chance points gave CPP seven points in the second overtime against the Gators. The lead exchanged twice as SFSU outscored the Broncos in the paint 6-2. This time, with seven seconds left in play, Caleb Nelson tipped the loose ball to Jaden Winfield who secured the offensive rebound and found Malachi Murrell who scored the three-point shot to send the game into triple overtime with the score at 83-83.

The Broncos made their break in the third overtime as they outscored SFSU, 13-6 to take their fifth victory in a row and second CCAA win, 96-89. Their record now stands at 5-1 and 2-0 CCAA.

"This was one of the craziest games I have coached in my career" said coach Greg Kamansky. "Our guys kept fighting and hit some very big shots. Caleb had a great rebound that led to the tie. Bam hit the big free throws. It was a great game and coming out on the winning end was amazing."

Leading all scorers was Mitchell who collected 30 points, and had 11 rebounds and three assists, collecting his first career double-double. Bam Johnson scored 19 points on the game and had four rebounds and three assists. Derrick Claxton collected 12 points shooting 5-8 (.625) from the field and went 2-3 (.666) from three-point range.
